Scopa tournament

Everyone’s favorite Italian card game is coming to Montreal’s Italian Week!

As last year, Montreal’s Italian Week ups the ante with its fifth Scopa tournament. For Italians and Italian-Canadians, Scopa was and is the card game to play at social gatherings. Scopa – which translates as “broom” – is an Italian card game that is played with a standard Italian 40-card deck. The game is played between two to five individual players, or between two teams of two.

Hosted by Italocanadese.com and the Order of the Sons of Italy in Canada, in collaboration with Montreal’s Italian Week, SCOPA @ SEMAINE ITALIENNE DE MONTRÉAL will see teams of two play in elimination rounds over a two-day period on August 12 and 13 in Montreal’s Little Italy until just one team is left – the Scopa champions of 2017.

Games will be played by two teams of two, in a best of three matches. Winning teams will move on to the next round.

Teams will be contacted one week prior to the tournament for the schedule. All participants must be available to play on Saturday, August 12, between 2:00PM and 6:00PM, and should they qualify for the next round, on Sunday, August 13 between 2:00PM and 6:00PM. Deadline to register is August 2, 2017.
