Davide Bazzali was born in Pontremoli, Tuscany, near Lucca, Giacomo Puccini’s hometown. He grew up in Parma, Giuseppe Verdi’s hometown. He studied at Alberghiero di Salsomaggiore and began his career as a chef at the age of nineteen. Since then, Bazzali has travelled abroad and shared his experience and passion for Italian cuisine. He has studied theatre and voice, and has worked with several musical and theatrical companies, both in Canada and in Italy. Bazzali enjoys working in several musical genres, blending lyrical voice techniques and international rhythms.
In 2010, he was awarded the Prélude scholarship for his theatrical project, Bel Canto, financed by Cirque du Soleil, the Conseil des Arts de Montréal and the Tohu. Bazzali’s company, CuisineOpera, is the amalgamation of his two passions, Italian cuisine and opera. Offering themed events, CuisineOpera introduces clients to a variety of regional Italian dishes combined with local music. Davide Bazzali is also the founder of the band OperaBazzali, which reinvents opera by combining world music and jazz. He recently opened a restaurant, Il Bazzali, on Beaubien Street in Montreal, and serves delicious Italian cuisine with a French flare.
