ITALIAN-CANADIAN WRITERS inthe spotlight

 

Press ReleaseMontréal, August 4, 2008-Montreal’s Italian week takes a literary excursion during its Tuscan-themed edition of the 2008 festival, paying tribute to Italian Canadian writers, poets and artists.  The Renaissance was wrought from the abundant Italian visionaries and today in 2008, these artists will have their spotlight in a festival which promises to be filled with many historical parallels.

 

Events will be held from the 15th to 17th of August in Little Italy, with a wide array of activities planned to indulge the literary mind, from an exhibit to readings and discussions. 

 

Starting August 15, from 1 to 11pm, a selection of books will be available for viewing and purchase at St. Laurent and Mozart. Readings in the Park will begin in that same location on that very evening at 6:30pm with Licia Canton, author, who will read excerpts from her book Almond Wine and Fertility.  From 8 :30 to 10 :30pm Paolo Ruiz will interview Dino Tavarone, actor, poet and painter.

 

On August 16th, Domenic Iannuzzi will present his book City of Sinners from 12:30-2:00pm and several other poets and writers will subsequently take part in Readings in the Park, a trilingual affair which will be conducted in Italian, French and English.  From 4:30-6:00pm, Lamberto Tassinari will present his latest book John Florio? Thereal Shakespeare?.

 

Last but not least, Mary Di Michele will be interviewed by Liane Moyeset from 4:30pm-6:00 pm on August 17th  on the subject of her new book Tenor of Love.
